Now, in a time where there is a huge resurgence in Japanese cinema (now you can find not just japanese dubs but also versions of the original japanese prints), Pokémon has gotten a chance to come back and have a life. The movie is called Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back and, to be fair, it is a cracking good watch. For those who might not know, the first Pokémon was a small fish called Charizard. It was the mascot of the TV show, and in the show he has a friend called Mew. Charizard evolved into what is now known as Charizard X (Charizard the Dragon) and it was Charizard X who led the cast of the show as the main character. Then, Charizard X lost it’s friend Mew to a dark force. However, in order to get revenge on Mew, Charizard X trapped it in a pokeball and put it into a kid’s bag. The kid was named Ash and as a result Charizard X evolved into a new Pokémon known as Mewtwo. Mewtwo then set about a series of events that would lead to the end of the world. To make a very long story short, the story revolves around Ash, Charizard and Pikachu who are all looking for Mewtwo. They’ve gotten a bit of help from Professor Oak and a young girl named Misty.
